Project Examples - Fort Worth,
Texas
RadioShack Headquarters
MCA of Fort Worth member Brandt installed the plumbing and
mechanical systems for RadioShack’s
corporate headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas. The headquarters is comprised of four large buildings and a large parking garage. The four
buildings are primarily office
from 6-7 stories in height. One of these buildings is a
large common area with everything from dining facilities, fitness
areas and broadcast
rooms for shooting TV commercials. The parking garage includes a
very large central plant with over 3500 tons of scheduled cooling.
This $12,000,000 project is LEED certified and was completed in December
2004.
Nasher Sculpture Center
The Nasher Sculpture Center, a piece of art in itself, offered MCA of
Fort Worth member Brandt Engineering an entirely new experience and
challenge in providing HVAC, plumbing and lighting systems that met
performance requirements while maintaining
the highest level of concealment possible for these systems. The
Center consists of a 55,000 square foot building and 75,000 square
foot garden.
All HVAC
systems providing air conditioning and ventilation to the museum
were built in
a “U” shaped isle in the basement, fifteen feet in depth, from
the perimeter wall. These systems include eleven air-handling units,
with humidity control to protect the collection from variations of
moisture in the air and sound attenuators to eliminate high pitch
sounds and
low
rumbles.
Return air
to the
mechanical systems is routed through reveals located at the ceiling
and wall joint. Also within the walls, 185 roof drainage
lines were installed to remove storm water from the glass roof’s
custom stainless steel gutter system. This storm water is then pumped
out of the building via sump systems.
